Thanks to everyone for their parts in the Carol Service/Concert we enjoyed on 19 December. The whole event went off very well with many positive comments from the congregation, and former choir members. Special thanks to Alison for all the work she put in to enable us to create a very good sound, and also to Celia for her excellent accompaniment. We have all benefitted from their skills over the past months as we are passing through increasingly difficult times.
We will now take a sabbatical as a choir and reassess the situation after Easter. With the increase in the pandemic, it seems our decision to take a prolonged break has been a wise one. We have learnt several vocal exercises so we have no excuse for not keeping our voices in trim!!

Community Concert Stockport Town Hall
17th December 2019
Despite the late change of date (due to the General Election), over 600 people turned out for the annual Stockport Community Carol Concert at Stockport Town Hall. The audience was treated to a wide variety of musical presentations from local performers and visiting guests. The MC for the evening was the multi-talented Ruth Malcolm who managed a delightful balance of humour and gravitas.
The theme of all the contributions was, of course, the Christmas message, which was presented in a variety of musical compositions. The band, massed choir, and soloists (not forgetting the Timbreltastic tambour group) were all on top form with modern and traditional offerings.
The Dovedale Singers joined forces with the Salford Royal Choir and the Stockport SA Songsters for an eclectic mix of seasonal songs that raised the roof. However, the highlight of the evening was the wife and husband team of Stephanie and Gavin Lamplough with their rendition of 'Rejoice, greatly' from Messiah, arranged by Gavin for solo soprano and trumpet.
All in all a successful and enjoyable evening with a significant collection donated to the Salvation Army Big Collection programme. Roll on Christmas 2020!
