The Dovedale Singers was formed sixty years ago starting life as a church concert party and evolving into a choir in 1960, when it adopted its name. The name was derived from the street name where its then conductor lived. In 2019 we celebrated our 60th anniversary - see 60th Anniversary Concert Gallery.
The choir likes to sing a variety of genre from pop, musical through to classical. Most of the current repertoire is scored for SATB. New music is constantly added so that members do not become stale and ensuring that higher vocal challenges are being reached.
We are always open to new members and would encourage you to get in touch if you are interested in singing – no audition is required!
Roger Pearce moved to the Marple area some thirty years ago and since that time has been much involved in local musical activities. His main musical interest is pipe organ playing and in this role he plays at many local churches – Marple, Compstall, Woodley and Romiley.
For many years Roger has been a member of both the Werneth Concert Band and Werneth Swing Band where he plays euphonium and keyboards. Very occasionally he has stepped in as a deputy musical director when required and is currently the band chairman.
