Our Aim - to entertain
Ian Malcolm is a musician with a passion for encouraging people to have a go. He is keen to give back the investment others have put into his musical career by sharing the enjoyment and learning he has received with others. He is a bass/baritone singer who is in demand as a soloist and choir member and has participated in concerts up and down the country including The Royal Albert Hall, The Bridgewater Hall and Stockport Town Hall.
Ian has directed The Stockport Citadel Salvation Army SATB choir (songsters) for the past 30 years and is principle cornet in the Citadel band. Since retiring from work he has committed more time to teaching and started a beginners brass group (now in its third year) and the young peoples choir. He is a member of several choirs, vocal and brass band social media groups where his graded lessons and brass and vocal arrangements have been widely received. Ian is married to Ruth who shares his interest in music; they have two daughters and four grandchildren.
Clear articulation, blended sound, accurate intonation and audience communication are the high benchmarks Ian looks for and develops in groups he leads; that said his rehearsal style ensures that it’s fun. A teacher with great patience who nonetheless makes demands, he sets challenges for himself and the groups he leads.
